2009.73: The Fake Rolex and the Renaissance Faire

They say that Quentin Tarantino has "a great ear for dialogue". Well, I
recently watched Pulp Fiction for the first time. The dialog was good,
Samuel Jackson and Travolta, yeah, ok. But hear this.

I submit a line I heard at someone's apartment in the 70's. I was at
Lee's place in the ghetto and his S.O. said

"You don't care any more for me than you care for that cockroach running
up the wall".

She slammed the door and my friend Don said

"Man, when you in a dark closet, a 25 watt bulb looks like a muthaf*****
but in the sunlight, that 25 watt bulb ain't sh**."

Need I translate?

I thought about Lee the other day. We were playing at a Renaissance
Faire in Passadena or Sierra Madre or someplace in the 70's, and Lee put
a bunch of counterfeit Rolex watches on his arm. He was flashing them
around. We laughed at him, saying "Hey man, these are hippies, you won't
sell a single one of those all day out here!"

After the gig, Lee had sold every single fake Rolex he had brought to
someone out there at the Renaissance Faire in Southern California.
